Strata Foundation Executive Director Julie Alberti met with Sarah Martinson and Michael Scheid from Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s office to discuss the Foundation’s work supporting veterans in need across Long Island.

The conversation focused on the Foundation’s commitment to crisis support for veterans, with Julie sharing recent cases that illustrate the impact of our work. They also discussed the fragmented nature of veteran services across Long Island’s towns and counties and the importance of collaboration to ensure resources are used effectively and efforts are not duplicated. Additional topics included the Foundation’s winter heating initiative and the challenges many veterans face when transitioning back to civilian life.

Looking ahead, Senator Gillibrand’s office offered to provide assistance with cases involving veterans who encounter obstacles accessing benefits and help direct utility-related concerns to the appropriate state resources.  

The meeting was a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships and explore ways to work together to better serve Long Island’s veterans.
